Beginning Band:  Instrumental Music is an elective subject in seventh grade. Students registering for Beginning Band will receive an introduction to band instruments and guidance and help choosing and acquiring an instrument that will be a good fit for them. Full band rehearsal meets weekly in third block. In beginning band, students will concentrate on developing and expanding the basic skills of instrument assembly and care, proper holding position, tone production, and music reading.  Band students perform in various concerts and may participate in the Conference Band Festival/Competition.  A small number of students may have the chance to perform at the Solo/Ensemble Festival. 
 
Advanced Band:  Instrumental Music is an elective subject in high school. Students registering for Advanced Band will progress in developing comprehensive musicianship through a standards-based curriculum, including singing, performing, improvising, reading and notating, listening and analyzing, evaluating, interdisciplinary relationships, and historical and cultural relationships. Full band rehearsal meets weekly in fourth block, every other Monday morning, and after school rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday. Band students perform in various concerts and performances and may participate in marching band, parades, basketball pep-band, Honor Band, and Conference Band Festival/Competition.  A small number of students may have the chance to perform at the Solo/Ensemble Festival.
